There's an amazing world out there that's just begging to be explored - but we still like to be home in time for tea.
We are armchair adventurers and we're not really cut out for abseiling, six day wilderness treks, helicopter skiing, free-diving or pretty much anything that takes longer than about three hours. Our aspirations are slightly more modest than the ernest adventurers, with their hipster beards, ironic t-shirts and YOLO tattoos. We want to venture out into the world in bite-sized chunks and if there's a nice cafe at the end of it, then all the better. Please join us as we explore our home of Australia, one sausage roll at a time.

Kiama Coast Path - Loves Bay to Gerringong and Back Again
On a beautiful Easter Monday, Catherine and I pulled on our walking boots and put our best foot forward exploring the Kiama Coastal Path section between Kiama and Gerringong.

Shoalhaven Floods - March 2022

This summer's been a bit of a disaster and it's finished off with a flood to really rub the salt in. Here's a video I put together showing the floods on the day they peaked and the next day when the waters had receded slightly.

[2nd reupload!] Stand-up paddle boarding is a great way of getting out on the water and exploring the incredible landscape here in the south coast of NSW. If you've thought about trying it or would like to get out on your board when you're visiting the region, then here are my five top picks for scenic SUP spots. Having weird audio issues with this one. Some folks reported no voice, just music,...

The Vitamin D Diaries Episode 29 - Reverse Sunset

The clouds were looking lovely over Shoalhaven Heads, but none out west where the sun was setting, so I mainly shot this video looking east. Just a peaceful hour on the coast, condensed into three minutes. Hope you enjoy. :)

Decent little swell pumping on Seven Mile brought all the surfers to the bar. All ages, all skill levels, folks just enjoying being in the ocean at sunset. Shout-out to anyone in lockdown - stay strong and look to the horizon.

No lockdown in this part of NSW at present, but Sydney and Wollongong are and so the beaches are pretty empty at the moment. The vibes were good on Seven Mile and surf was clean.
The Vitamin D Diaries Episode 26 - Big Day @ Bombo

Honestly think this is the best episode of the Vitamin D Diaries thus far, but it came at quite a financial cost. Towards the end of the day, as I was preparing to leave, a massive rogue wave hit me square on the head, soaked me to the skin and hit my poor old Fujifilm X-T4 and XF10-24mm lens full on. The lens aperture ring stopped working immediately (as it's not weather sealed) and while the ...

Other projects have taken me away from pursuing this channel lately, so I made an effort to shoot some video last night and had forgotten how enjoyable it is to piece these little videos together. I am autistic, and have severe ADHD and anxiety and my desire to travel up and down the coast shooting the videos this channel is better known for basically disappeared during the pandemic, due to my ...

Hey guys. I'm in the process of shooting footage for a new series of videos about Jervis Bay and consequently, spent a lovely day in Huskisson. Thought I'd share some of that footage for a new Vitamin D diary. Huskisson is the gateway to Jervis Bay with a beautiful wharf on the edge of pristine Currumbene Creek, an ocean pool, sheltered beaches and loads of great cafes and stores to explore.

Couple of evenings ago I headed over to the Shoalhaven estuary to shoot a new diary and found strong winds impacting the coast. I normally stay on the river side of the estuary but was drawn round to the beach and was glad I did because there were loads of pelicans hanging out for the scraps from the fishermen. The name of this episode is a reference to the film about a boy who befriends a peli...

It's been a cool and wet summer so far in the south coast. And those of us who live here couldn't be happier about it, since the entire region was burning this time last year. However the skies cleared slightly today and so I spent an hour filming at Gerroa just before a strong thunderstorm blew through. Shot with a Fujifilm X-T4 (4K, LongGOP, F-Log, 59.94, 200Mb/s, H265), Fujifilm XR-100-400mm...

One of those in-between evenings on Seven Mile Beach. The long spring holiday is behind us and the long summer hoilday isn't quite here yet so the beach is fairly quiet. If you're a camera geek like me then here is the full kit I used: Fujifilm X-T4 (4K, LongGOP, F-Log, 59.94, 200Mb/s, H265), Fujifilm XR-100-400mm, Fujifilm XF10-24mm, Fujifilm XC50-230mm. It will always remain jervis bay
What difference does it make to change a name ??? What positive impact will that have ? None
It’s not cool to expose beaches in Australia . The locals will give u good lesson one day .
Read the title you fuck-wit - it's 'Beaches you've probably never been to' - not 'Secret beaches'. Fucking hard man - why don't you give me a 'good lesson'.
@@barefootgeek ha showing your true colours now . Go get your teeth fixed .
I spent a year in Tuross Head. I can’t believe I missed all these beautiful places! Was working….sigh
When diving off Target the shallows disappear very quickly into very deep water, hence that deep blue just behind the aqua. 🙈
We were able to drive right down to the Hedland where we camped in our Panel Vans👍
I made a Standard 8 movie back in the early 70’s - Movie Target - the 70’s - it’s on UA-cam 👍
Vast,fresh air, natural beauty, paradise!?????
Excellent video, helped me plan my weekend trip to Jervis bay. Thank you so much
Great beach 👍 we were there in February 24
Why did they change Seaman’s beach to Hyams beach .?
I did thus walk today The beaches are world class . Just love it !
Oh dear, the locals won’t be happy, these beaches are never meant to be put on social media for fear of been over run and trashed, wish you’d never done this video.
Just to let you know, that age of geology you gave is according to the falsehood theory of evolution, which is now taught as fact. Evolution is a lie. The truth is the earth is young in the thousands of years.
Hi there! Thanks for sharing this video. I have not traveled very far for quite some time, so I enjoyed the virtual visit the south coast region via your video. I'm in the Northern Rivers Region of NSW right near to the QLD border in the Tweed Shire, so I do my videos up here. Cheers! 🙂
great vid! Im off there this weekend!
Great video, thanks for uploading
❤
I’m really grateful that I found your channel. I love it!
Cape St George lighthouse is over 3 Km from a walking track ... it's a hell of a long trek .. there's no car park or anything there .... or is Google earth that out of date ..😯
There's a large car-park 200m from the lighthouse and has been for many years. Also an asphalt road in.
Australians did not welcome any British people into Australia. The British think they own Australia. The British flag in Australia is disgusting. The British people in Australia should be ashamed, indeed. People should look up the dark story behind the British invasion of Australia. It's awful.
❤ so helpful. Fabulous presentation. Thankyou
FUN FACT - "Hyams Beach, NSW, DOES NOT have world's whitest sand according to the Guinness World Records." It's a claim that has been published repeatedly for decades. The Sydney Morning Herald refers to it as far back as 1987. And now, every few months, a major news publisher (including this one) or someone on social media picks up that tag and runs with it. No questions asked. The only problem is, it's not true. The tiny coastal town in New South Wales, near Jervis Bay, has become a victim of fake news and its own popularity. Home to only 100 people, the population swells into the thousands over the summer as tourists flock to this seaside village to see the "world's whitest sand" and take the perfect Instagram shot. Sure, it's white - whiter than the sand at Bondi and St Kilda. But it's not the world's whitest - Hyams Beach is not even home to Australia's whitest sand. And to further debunk the myth, the Guinness World Records doesn't even have a "world's whitest sand" category. So, where is the whitest beach? It started as an afternoon banter over beers for Noel Schoknecht, soil scientist and former chairman of the National Committee on Soil and Terrain, to find the country's whitest beach. A term of reference was then drafted and samples taken from beaches across the country. The samples had to be taken from the swash zone (the gently sloping area between the water and the dunes) and they could not be treated in any way apart from air-drying. The winning beach was Lucky Bay in Cape Le Grand National Park on Western Australia's south coast. Followed by Hellfire Bay in WA, Tallebudgera Beach in Queensland, Whitehaven Beach in Queensland, Squeaky Beach in Victoria, Boat Harbour Beach in Tasmania, Hyams Beach in New South Wales, and Bromby Island in Northern Territory.

Great to see your upload today! Really love the channel ! Keep them coming
Nice one Andy! Great to see you guys out enjoying the Easter sunshine. Thanks for showing this incredible walk with the usual Barefoot Geek flair and panache! Cheers.
Thanks Dan. Sure nice to be out and about again :)
Terrific photography in (as you say) absolutely stunning location. I like the music in your vids and everything about them. Thanks for the great work..I've just subscribed and hit the bell 🔔 cheers!
Couldn't quite hear them sing at 6:05
I am originally from the Gold Coast and move to Moore Park Beach. I would have to say it is the best kept secret. Beautiful beach and coastline and the residents are wonderful and welcoming. I never go back to the GC.
Beautiful ❤but weren’t you a bit scared, as one lash up from their stinger can do an injury to you.
Ugly music no atmosphere
Excellent commentary 👌. Very informative and brilliant description of the Bay and activities available to the public 👍. Love your voice - you should be working in television as a travel advisor. You have a great personality. Keep up your excellent work 👏.
Hello Andy. I have been making my way through your videos and I have to say they are wonderful and bring a smile to my face. I live in Canberra and spent my childhood holidays in the family caravan at Broulee beach caravan park. I have always adored the ocean but due to circumstances, have not set foot on a beach in about 7 years. I had to have my left leg amputated and am now in a wheelchair. Your channel is a godsend for people like myself. You tell us where the waters are calm, what facilities there are and if there are steps. I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate all the effort you put in and all the stunning scenery that you artfully capture. It's just total eye candy! So I humbly ask for MORE...please 😁
Thanks Edwina. Like a lot of channels, the pandemic took the wind out of the sails of the Barefoot Geek,l and once you've got out of a routine it's tough to get back in there. That said, I do have plans for content on this channel and hope to start producing some fresh content here soon. :)
@@barefootgeek I totally understand. Just hope that if or when you do it, you get something good out of it. Cheers 😀
Great work. Can believe you don't have more views.
Thank-you :)
